Coppell hockey falls to Allen Eagles
By Chris Reagan Staff Writer On Thursday night the Cowboys lost a hard fought game 2-0 to the Allen Eagles taking their record to 1-9 on the season. Coppell did a great job in the first period holding Allen scoreless and keeping the amount of shots low. The second period is where Coppell really lost control of the game. Allen scored two goals, despite a great game by Parker Johnson, and Coppell just couldn’t come back from the deficit. The game turned into a game of special teams with the Eagles able to perform on power plays where the Cowboys struggled. Coppell’s next game is against Dallas Jesuit at Farmers Branch at 8:15.
Coppell Hockey nears end of season
Thomas Hair Staff Writer The 2011 Coppell Cowboys hockey team is loaded with talent and huge potential. No one questions that. Coppell Hockey Board of Directors President Kent Howard called the team “very physical, very fast” and the team had very high expectations before the season. However, this season, that talent and potential hasn’t always translated into victory. It has been a roller coaster ride of a season for the Cowboys. At times, they have dominated the ice, such as their 8-0 rout of Flower Mound. At other times, however, the Cowboys have been the victims of a beat-down themselves, such as their 6-0 loss to Southlake Carroll. The team is currently 9-9-2 (nine wins, nine…

Coppell hockey competes during break
By Gaby Moran Staff Writer Many students plan to go on vacations this coming break and forget about school completely. However, like the football team, the Coppell hockey team has games to play and no time to waste. On Saturday Nov. 21, the Coppell hockey team plays Plano Senior High School team at 7:45 pm at the Dr. Pepper Center in Plano. It will be a crucial game because each team has the same record. With Thanksgiving being on Thursday, the weekly Thursday night game is moved to Tuesday Nov. 24. Coppell hockey plays Allen High School hockey team at 6:30 pm at the ITC-Red rink. Cowgirls wrap up wild season with loss to Hebron
By Andy Tabor The Coppell Cowgirls through adversity and a tough district, had a very successful season. Although expectations may have been higher going into the season due to things beyond the Cowgirls control, they finished with their heads held high. Losing to a very talented Hebron Hawks team shouldn’t diminish any positive accomplishment the Cowgirls did this season. Starting out pre- season, the Cowgirls were considered a top 20 team in the state of Texas. With three division one college commits and a returning all-state libero, the Cowgirls looked for big things. Early in the season, the Cowgirls won the consolation championship against long time foe Plano West. The next weekend, the team finished…
A look into the playoffs
By Nathan Reck Assistant Sports Editor Football: At 8-1 the Cowboys clinched a playoff berth with their third district win of the year in a 48 point blowout of Lewisville. Now all that remains for Coppell before the playoffs kick off is their final district game against Flower Mound on Friday night. While the game can’t keep the cowboys out of the playoffs a loss could pit the team against a much tougher first round matchup in Euless Trinity as opposed to playing a team with a worse record such as Keller in the opening round. More on who the football team will face in the first round of the playoffs will come following the…
Cowgirls face Eagles in revenge game
By Andy Tabor The Coppell volleyball team is playing the biggest game of their season and possibly volleyball careers tonight against Allen. Allen comes into this game number one in the area and number four in the state. Coppell has played Allen twice and has lost twice this season, losing Mallory Cravens for an extended amount of time the second loss. Cravens last game against Colleyville Heritage, played her best game of the season and will only be more pumped for a match against the Eagles. “Playing against Allen is going to be a tough task.” Cravens said. “I want to beat them really bad to keep moving on, and because I was injured against…
Marcus vs Coppell Preview
By Andy Tabor Staff Writer Like last week, this Friday I was able to speak with a member of a local area volleyball team that had played against Coppell and their upcoming district opponent. The match up this week is against Flower Mound Marcus and I had the pleasure of talking to Dj Phee, a senior outside-hitter committed to playing volleyball at West Point Academy in New York. Her current team, the Allen Eagles, are ranked number one in the area and number five in the entire state of Texas. Allen defeated Coppell two games to one in an early season tournament, while Allen beat Marcus three games to one recently. Andy: Hey Dj, as you know Coppell…
