By John Loop Staff Writer The constant thud resonates from Buddy Echols Field and the sweat drips down the backs of the varsity football players as spring practice begins. After losing a win-and-in game against Keller Central in November, the Cowboys have been hitting harder, running faster and will soon be ready to produce better results under the lights next season. Since the Cowboys’ first game against Longview at SMU’s Ford Stadium for the 2012 Tom Landry Classic, there is not much time between now and when summer starts for the team to get on the same page. “The overall goal for spring football is start preparing for Longview,” junior wide receiver Jason Lister said….

Artists pursue animation at a higher level

While some choose to vent into a diary, others choose to take out their frustration and emotions with a paintbrush and a canvas. The prestigious art program at Coppell High School allows students to dive into their individual expression and explore various techniques to find their own style. Clancy dances her way to Creighton

After a rigorous audition process, Clancy was chosen out of 22 girls to be a part of the Jays Dancers at Creighton University, the college’s official dance team. A dancer since the age of 3, Clancy has always had a passion for performing. Update: Mathai waves goodbye to The Voice

By Mary Whitfill Features Editor Coppell native and 2010 CHS graduate Sharon Mathai was eliminated on Tuesday’s episode of NBC’s The Voice after a performance of Carrie Underwood’s “Cowboy Casanova.” Determining its remaining four Top 8 semifinalists, coach Adam Levine eliminated Mathai and coach Cee Lo Green eliminated Cheesa Laureta. During the performances of their “last chance” song, fellow team member Katrina Parker, a singer from North Carolina, beat out Mathai after she performed “Perfect” by Pink. Christina Aguilera told Mathai she could “feel the nerves” in her performance, while Cee Lo said he liked her “aggression.” Levine told Parker and Mathai that making this decision “breaks [his] heart” and complimented Mathais’ “infectious” spirit. “I really…
