By Tolu Salako Staff Writer Today in the Lecture Hall at 4:00p.m., the Coppell High School National Honor Society will have their annual junior class elections. Many incoming juniors will be running for junior vice president, junior attendance or junior hours officer. Officers must have great leadership skills, punctuality and a great work ethic. At the 2013 NHS induction ceremony, officers will have to give a speech and participate in the lighting of the candles, as well as swear off the Class of 2015. Students work overload taking a toll
By Lauren VerDuin Staff Writer From tests and quizzes to projects and presentations, the increase in schoolwork for many Coppell High School students has multiplied as the end of the year draws near. It seems that this is a common occurrence each year as teachers scramble to fit in last minute grades in the grade book. While this may make sense to teachers as they aim to finish out the year strong, students feel overwhelmed and confused as to why everything must be assigned at the last minute. Not only are projects and tests a major concern, but AP tests are in session as well, adding to the stress of many students.
AP testing draws near completion
By Madison Ford Entertainment Editor Students in all grade levels have been spending much of the past three weeks studying for AP tests. While there are still exams left to be taken, students can begin to breath a sigh of relief as they reach the end of the last testing week. Despite the increase in exam price this year, many students took the exams that corresponded with their AP courses. With the possibility of college course exemptions for certain scores, the choice to take an exam is still considered an economically viable option for some. While many students still have to take their finals, for those who are exempt the end of AP exams signifies…
Another banquet season is upon us
By John Loop Staff Writer As another stressful and excitement-filled school year finally winds down, clubs and organizations at CHS have begun holding their banquets. Last Friday night, the choir program had their annual dinner and awards session at the new Irving Convention Center. The meal was promptly followed a dance party. Coincidentally, the tennis banquet was held a floor below the group of rowdy singers, and many decided to crash the party after their banquet had ended. After hearing reports from many of the seniors, the overall feedback came back sounding positive. The DJ and the emcee were the focal point of all conversation, with many chiming on that the party was much better…

Slither to safety with snake tips
By Corrina Taylor Staff Writer What slithers and scares the daylight out of people? Snakes. Due to the shortage of winter weather Dallas experienced this year, there has been an increase in rat snake and copperhead sightings in the area. Although the rat snake is non-venomous, it is advised not to pick one up or deal with it firsthand. Conversely, the Copperhead is poisonous and can be dangerous. Copperheads are gray and brown with a copper-colored head and tend to be found in forested areas. Copperheads will generally bite when accidently stepped or laid on and are most commonly found under logs, boards or other areas that they can rest beneath. To prevent snake bites…
