One of the more prestigious clubs at Coppell High School, the National Honor Society, is now accepting applications from sophomores.
To apply, students must complete the full application that is available in B124 before or after school. Students are required to have a 4.8 GPA or higher to gain admittance. In addition to the high GPA, a resume of accomplishments is mandatory with the application.
NHS honors students who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, character, as well as service. The organization was started by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and came about in 1921.
Students can gain a lot from being a member in the society, including recognition by colleges for the honor of being accepted.
The club meets on the second Thursday of every month to discuss upcoming service opportunities and how they can gain hours.
Part of the club is service, so each upcoming student will be  required to have eight NHS hours as well as eight individual hours over the course of their junior year.
