Started in the fall of 2010, the academies are for students who wish to pursue certain academic areas instead of taking a more general academic route. The academies consist of three groups: the Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) academy, the Public Services Academy (PSA) and the Emerging Media and Communications (EMAC) academy.

STEM is designed to prepare students interested in obtaining a career in these four categories. Some of the most recent programs and technology are available at the fingertips of the students who choose to participate in the STEM academy. Students who are a part of this academy or are interested in it may also look want to look into FIRST, MATE or Solar Car.

PSA was created to give students a chance to gain the experience and thinking that is needed to pursue a career under this branch. It offers courses on both education and health care, and people working in the field can mentor students.
EMAC- http://www.coppellisd.com/Page/1765
EMAC offers a curriculum that prepares students for the jobs that will be available in a media field – for example, radio, film, photography and journalism. It works to strengthen communication skills and introducing media technology to the EMAC academy students. Students who are from this branch or are interested in it may also wish to look into KCBY and The Sidekick.
