Students make vows to see the Vow this Valentine’s Day

By Kristen Shepard

It’s no surprise that the upcoming Tuesday is Valentine’s Day, or to many, Singles Appreciation Day. And what better way to celebrate the holiday by seeing what is expected to be the most heartwarming film of the season: The Vow.
Starring popular actor Channing Tatum, even the trailers leading up to the premiere have girls across the nation on the edge of their seats.
Based on a true story, the story consists of a newlywed couple starting their life together. The plot thickens when the husband, Tatum and the wife Rachel McAdams in involved in a severe car accident, putting them both in the hospital. While Tatum remains virtually unharmed, McAdams awakens with no active memory of meeting her husband. To make matters worse, she can only remember herself five years ago, where she was engaged to another man.
The movie continues as Channing Tatum goes on a quest to “make his wife fall in love with him again” and steps back to square one, asking her out.
The touching tale is based on the story of a couple who we involved in a similar accident in 1993. Kim and Krickitt Carpenter married for two months were hit from behind, causing memory loss paralleling what McAdams portrays in The Vow.
Sure to be a success, the movie is scheduled to release on Friday, Feb. 10 and is rated PG-13 for the graphic accident scene, language and sexual content.
