Injuries could hurt Rangers pursuit of 92

In early March, hype surrounded the Texas Rangers like never before when Rangers’ President Nolan Ryan predicted a 92 win season. Nonetheless, the pursuit has taken a hit with recent injuries.
This past week, OF Nelson Cruz, who had been on the disabled list for the third time, and 2B Ian Kinsler, who had been on the DL since July 29 retuened to the active roster. Though it seemed like the Rangers were prepared to get back to their consistent winning ways, there simultaneously came more bad news for the club.
It was reported that MVP candidate Josh Hamilton and LHP Cliff Lee were both feeling pain; Lee in his back and Hamilton in his right knee. Both players are crucial to the success of the team and every Ranger fan should be holding their breathe at the news.
Hamilton has been dealing with this throbbing knee for the entire season and proves perhaps crtical for the upcoming post season. He recieved his third cortisone injection of the season, and hopefully will begin to regain his strength. Hamilton returns his .360 average to the lineup tonight as he plays as DH against the Twins
Lee, who has experience serious troubles of late, has had soreness in his back since his last start against the Royal where the team ended up losing 10-9. He is planning to workout this weekend at Target Field as the Rangers face off against the division leading Twins. Hopefully, after having this time off, Lee can bounce back and finish the season strong as the Rangers near the playoffs.
Now, the Rangers have already locked up the division, but 92 plus wins is their goal. Optimistically, these injuries are temporary and not to the extent of Kinsler’s experience on the DL. The Rangers have 29 games remaining and 17 wins to achieve, looks like quiet a challenge.
