Coppell Cowgirls go undefeated at tournament

The Coppell cowgirls took first at the Jenny Eckert memorial tournament held this weekend at Coppell High School.

The cowgirls beat Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) 25-17 and 25-18, Lewisville 25-13 both sets, and Mansfield legacy 25-13 and 25-21 on Thursday to get into the gold bracket on Saturday. Once they were in the gold bracket the cowgirls played Allen, Plano west, and Dumas.

The Cowgirls first game on Saturday was against the Allen Eagles, after a tough match Coppell beat the Eagles in three sets, 25-13, 25-23, and 25-16. Their toughest match of the day was against Plano west; the girls had fight hard to pull out the win, 25-18, 23-25, and 25-21. In the finals Coppell took on Dumas also beating them in three for first, 25-17, 18-25, 25-19.

The all tournament MVP was Coppell sophomore Cassidy PIckrell; Coppell Sophomores Erica Bohannon and Chiaka Ogbagu were also all tournament.

The team was lead in kills by Cassidy Pickrell with 41 kills followed by Erica Bohannon and captain Chandler Hatton. The coaches also recognized Shelby Mason for having no hitting error during the entire tournament.

 The cowgirls were lead in digs by libero Kristen Dickerson with 59 digs, and lead in serves and assists by captain Bear Bass with 5 aces and 91 assists.

The Cowgirls now have a 17-5 record and hope to Beat Plano West again at their next game on Tuesday August 31 at Coppell.
