Mad Men, Modern Family dominate Emmy Awards
Rebecca Neumann Entertainment Editor Last Sunday, many tuned in to the Emmy Awards to see if their favorite shows would claim the coveted statue. Fans of Mad Men and Modern Family at least were not disappointed. The AMC hit drama claimed the title award, Best Drama Series, as well as a writing award, beating out Lost and the serial killer series Dexter. Modern Family also dominated their category, winning Best Comedy and Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Eric Stonestreet). However, I feel it worthy to note that some actors and actresses were more than qualified to receive an award but were overlooked due to the obscurity of their show. My main example is…
CHS opens house
by Ashley Attanucci Staff Writer The high school’s annual Curriculum Night –the one night parents experience that truly mimics the chaos of the jam-packed halls of an enormous school- has come and went. Countless parents slipped on their students’ shoes and added to the open house frenzy as they inquired Red Jackets for classroom locations. While parents learned about what their children’s classes are like this year, students lolled down the main hallway, signing up for different clubs that showcased themselves last night. Every organization from Yearbook -with a television screen playing last year’s memories- to Chinese club, whose table displayed various Chinese souvenirs, to Hope for Africa selling early their new ‘mums’. Parents and…

Open House was facilitated in both the large and small commons, the main hallway of the school and in individual teacher classrooms. The event provided an opportunity…
Senior Assembly to aid students through application process
by Divya Kumar News Writer In order to ease tensions about the upcoming college application process, CHS counselors held a “Senior Assembly” today. Seniors left their English classes to go to the lecture hall, where counselors presented a slideshow detailing the whole application process. They begun the program by introducting Naviance, a new program that CHS has recently incorporated that aids seniors and juniors through the college process. The website hosts a “resume” for the students, which lists their scores, GPA and rank, as well as a college and scholarship search program. A new feature recently added, a college match-up service, compares the students statistics based off of those of last year’s seniors who applied…
Mind Numbing Concert Event
What was it that made the Green Day concert the fist pumping, heart stopping event of the summer? It could it have been anything between the ring leader of the show Billie Joe Armstrong and the deafening sound of music mixed with the shouts of the crowd and the explosion of fireworks. There was never a dull moment with Armstrong onstage to use his magic as an entertainer to rally up the crowd throughout the show. The concert took place August 26th at the Super pages center in Dallas. Impatience was well seen on the faces of the fans in the pit as they waited for the set crew to ready the stage for Green…
CHS Marching Band perform Jubilee part I

This year the band also plans to create a bigger visual for the audience by bringing in props, Coppell directors are trying to keep them under wraps, so there is no mention of what the props will possibly be. As for the Coppell Color Guard they performed wonderfully; they have some areas that need improvement, but under the direction of James Thomas, anything…
