For all interested, Arizona Immigration Law protest on Saturday

As you’ve probably heard several times by now. Last Friday, specifically April 23, 2010 Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed Senate Bill 1070 into law. This is a bill that makes it a misdemeanor for an alien to be in Arizona without required documents. However that is not the extremely controversial part. No, that part is the fact that it requires the police to make an attempt to determine a person’s immigration status if there is reasonable suspicion that the person is an illegal alien during a police stop. Also, police may arrest someone if there is probable cause that the individual is an alien who  does not have required registration documents on them. This bill has been…

by Divya Kumar News Editor This weekend, debate partners, junior Priyanka Krishnamurthy and senior Joey Donaghy plan to advance to the Tournament of Champions (TOC) in Kentucky. This special debate duo, who has advanced at a series of tournaments over the course of the school year, have demonstrated their talent by being the only team from Coppell advancing. The TOC, comprised of 65 teams this year from around the nation, is essentially just a large tournament. Series of debate partners who have won at least 2 bids in each of the tournaments they participated at home – a difficult feat – will compete at the Tournament of Champions in order to claim their title as…

A small tribute to… gum

by Ashley Attanucci Staff Writer We all love gum. We love to have some, share some, ask everybody in our class for some. Some of us like to stick gum on other people’s things, or play with our a-b-c gum, and smack our gum; some chew gum for its unique texture, others for its flavor. Some even chew gum for energy (ever heard of caffeinated gum?) or whiter teeth (yeah, Orbit White)! And a few like to make art with their gum wrappers. So, I think it is safe to say, we all have to love gum, for one reason or another (and chew it at school whether we are allowed to or not). But…

Free Comic Book Day lands with a KA-POW!

Ashleigh Heaton Entertainment Editor This Saturday, May 1 marks the annual Free Comic Book Day, and Boomergang Comics in Lewisville is participating. Not only will the store being given out free comics (from a selected list and while supplies last), but they will also be placing discounts on graphic novels and boardgames throughout the store. Okay, yeah, it sounds like the epitome of nerdiness, I know. But hear me out: even if you’re not a hugest fan of comic books, you should still consider coming out. On top of the cheap literature, Boomerang will also be offering face painting – and rumor has it that there will be a Star Wars invasion as well as…

My experience at Rosa’s Cafe

By Rebecca Fowler Staff Writer I pulled into the extremely crowded parking lot and thought Oh, great. Seeing the huge number of cars, I knew it would be ages before my family and I finally got to eat—let alone, get a table.  It was Monday night, and the café had just opened on Saturday…the new workers would surely be in over their heads tonight. But we went in anyway, and were shocked to see many available tables in the spacious dining area, as well as a quickly-moving ordering line. Set up similarly to Subway, Rosa’s Café is just that—a café.  You walk up to the cashier, place your order, pay and then pick up your…
