Most fundraisers seen throughout the school have come in the form of typical activities, such as bake sales and car washes. The Coppell High School Academic Decathlon team, however, this year has decided to participate in a different sort of fundraiser, selling AP and SAT II test preparation books rather than average home-made items.
Up till February 19th, students have the opportunity to fill out a form and order their AP test and SAT Subject Test preparation books through the CHS AcDec team. While these books cost roughly around $20 at average book stores, the price when bought through the AcDec team is at a significant discount, at around $12 while being tax exempt as well.
The books being sold are: Barron’s AP books for Government, French Language, Computer Science, Spanish Language, Statistics, calculus, Chinese Language, English Literature, United States history, European History, Biology, Music Theory, Physics B, Physics C, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Psychology, English Language, Art History, Macroeconomics/Microeconomics, World History and Human Georgraphy. For the SAT Subject Tests, specific review books are being sold for Biology, Chemistry, French, Literature, Math Levels 1 and 2, Physics, Spanish, U.S. History, World History and Writing.
To order these books through the AcDec team, checks must be made payable to the CHS Activity Fund-Academic Decathlon. In addition to being turned in to an AcDec member, checks and order forms can be turned into the Student Services Office at CHS.
To learn more about this, contact either AcDec sponsor, Donnette Alexander (dalexander@coppellisd.com) or Tim Dixon (tdixon@coppellisd.com), or an AcDec member.
