Black History Blues( Make me want to holler)

I’ve begun doing something I consider very funny during the Black History facts of the day, I’ll point to random students and pull my ear and point to the voice box indicating of course that they should listen because this is some important stuff! Full disclosure: I’m  a Black Afr0 African Negro American(though how about we go with smart alecky black guy for the rest of this blog?). Anyways, I do this very sarcastic maneuver  because I feel that during these Black history facts we hear totally way too much hagiography about guys like Martin Luther King Jr. and women like Rosa Parks instead of something personal about any of them.  So, basically I’m saying give me a personal fact now and then. You know? Tell me something like Martin Luther King Jr. cheated on his wife, or that Bayard Rustin was in the hate trifecta(guy was a black, homosexual, atheist) so no one liked him.  Make them feel like human beings, that’s what we need more of during Black History Month.

P.S. The Black Panthers were hugely important also and are always not mentioned because many people think of them as a quasi-terrorist group which is really not completely true, and even if they were it was at a time where African Americans needed someone to tell them they could be equal, and these guys were telling them they could be superior so that’s where it goes.
