On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week, some CHS students spent their afternoons at the Middle Schools North, West and East on each respective day, sharing their experiences with eighth graders who will be entering the high school next year.

CHS students from Engineering, Health Science Technology, Yearbook, KCBY and Sidekick, in addition to several other groups, showed the younger students how their groups operate, and also explain the new academies that CHS will have next year.

The academies are trifold: The Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Academy focuses on aspects of the core curriculum that intersect with engineering. The Public Services Academy includes programs like Ready, Set, Teach and Health Science Technology, while the Emerging Media and Communication Academy covers KCBY, Yearbook and Newspaper.

The vision behind these new academies, which will be open to rising freshmen, is to put an emphasis on specialized carreer learning from the beginning of high school.
