Cowboys basketball has started their district season as well as possible, defeating highly respected opponents Southlake Carroll and Hebron in their first two games.

The Cowboys biggest test will come tonight when they travel to Flower Mound and take on the Marcus Marauders. Marcus is ranked No. 3 in the state of Texas and has been the most dominant of the District 6-5A teams this year, losing just two games.

The Marauders are led by impressive sophomore forward Marcus Smart, who leads his team in scoring at a 17.4 points per game clip.

Marcus and Coppell are the only teams to start the District 6-5A season at 2-0. Coppell is hungry to prove that they belong in the discussion to be the district champions, and a win tonight against the Marauders would go a long way in making their case.

The Cowgirls also take on Marcus tonight on the road. They are looking to put a winning streak together after clinching their first district win of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at home against Hebron.

The Cowgirl’s district record now stands at 1-3 and 9-11 overall. The ladies of Marcus are 19-10 this year and 3-1 in district play.
