Lights, Christmas and plenty of action

Many have seen the YouTube video of the house with thousands of Christmas lights that play to the song “Wizard of Winter”. Yes, it is a spectacular showcase of light and sound. But, what you may not know is that there is a house like this in Coppell. For the past two years, Coppell resident Jim Hall has turned his house at 836 Lakeview Court into a Christmas display of magic. With over 10,000 lights and five different songs, he takes decorating his house for Christmas to a whole new extreme.  “I saw the video, and I thought ‘Oh, that would be cool!’” Hall said. “I do it to make people’s season better especially if…

Yearbook pranks it’s own

First year Yearbook staff members awoke this morning to be visited by their fellow senior members carrying bundles of wacky clothes in honor of Yearbook Wake Up day. “Today’s when all the senior staff members wake up the junior staff members early and make them wear something ridiculous to school.  They have to wear it all day and can’t take it off,” said senior Micaela Rosinski. “I was lucky, they just dressed me up as an elf or something.” Students could see roaming the hallways today students wearing random coats, seperate pairs of shoes, and bizarre hats. “When they handed me the hat to wear, I thought I was going to get out of it…

Responsibility lies on your own shoulders

By Natalie Hill, center spread editor Alright readers, here are my two cents for the week… I was walking through the hectic main hallway yesterday, always overly-crowded with equally hectic students, all overwhelmed with last-minute assignments due before the holiday break. Everyone was hustling to get to their next class, which happened to be sixth period . It was then that it hit me. Not literally, of course, I didn’t literally get hit by something, but I got an epiphany, rather. But what are we doing? That sounds dumb, readers, I know. But what is motivating us to walk from class to class doing our assignments, studying for the tests, scheduling a social life around…

Quentin Tarantino, Thank you.

By Wren Culp Staff Writer I got really excited the other night. Not about football, and not about the lights over Norway. It’s a film that is coming out soon. The third movie to one of the greatest movie series of all time. Quentin Tarantino. The name will be remembered forever in the movie world. He has only directed five films and yet every single one turns into a masterpiece. And now, the new Tarantino film set to be released in 2014 as the seventh film is going to rock the nation. KILL BILL 3 I started freaking out when I read that Tarantino was revisiting Uma Thurman’s character “Beatrix Kiddo”. In the special features…

Bowl season ready to begin

By Andy Tabor The college bowl season is ready to begin while students are on Christmas break this holiday season.  There will almost 43 games in 20 days giving college football junkies plenty of games to watch.  Many future NFL stars will be on display throughout this bowl season giving NFL scouts some new fresh faces to scout. The bowl season for college athletes no doubt will raise stock and drop stock in the NFL draft even before the combine.  Quarterbacks and skill position players will be under a microscope and will need to perform their best if they are indeed declaring for the draft. For underclassmen, these games offer a look into the future and give…

Eight brands lost in 2009

By Julia Kim Staff Writer Many of these names should be familiar. Many of them existed in our generation. A ll of them have died in 2009. 1. Circuit City Retail Stores-  This is probably the biggest business that closed this year. With competition from rivals like Best Buy, this 60-year old electronic chain declared bankruptcy at the end of 2008. 2. Saturn- One of four GM brands, the car company went bankrupt early this year. 3. Pontiac- In April, GM officially declared that Pontiac would be dropped. 4. Kodachrome- Although the name may not sound familiar, this successful color film could not last with the increasing availability of digital photography. 5. Home Depot Expo-…

Secrets revealed throughout CHS

With the upcoming holidays to celebrate, CHS finds itself spilling secrets and dishing information. Although there are many aspects of the holidays to enjoy, my personal favorite is the Friday before break and the activities which take place. With delicious food to eat and fun games to play, this day is one of the best within the school year. One of the things that makes this day great is the practice of Secret Santa and White Elephant. These two activities are not only a great way to get to know your peers, but provide students with a sense of fun and togetherness. Of the many activities and organizations at CHS, several have planned to partake in these festivities. Ready, Set, Teach!, the…
