As the holidays are nearing, adults around Coppell are clearing their schedules for the annual Christmas in Coppell Home Tour- a charity fundraising event that many look forward to every year.
The event includes an open door visit of four of Coppell’s finest homes. It’s a fun way to celebrate the holidays with neighbors and friends, as well as an opportunity to see different ideas of decorating homes.
“Home owners do the bulk of the work in preparing for this event,” said fundraising Home Tour chairwoman Julie Thompson. “They can decorate their house as much or as little as they want- it’s really just their own style.”
Tour dates are Friday, December 4 from 10am to 2pm, and 7 pm to 9p. The tour will also take place Saturday, December 5 from 10am to 1pm. Visitors can start at whichever home they prefer and make their way to the other homes through the city. Tickets cost $20 in advance and can be purchased by any assistance league member or at one of the sponsoring vendors such as Surya Center for Yoga, Johnson Printing, Verdadrealestate.com and Pandamonium. They may also be purchased at the door for $25.
The cost of the tickets go directly towards community projects like the fatal vision goggles in health classes, Shattered Dreams, and drug testing kits for the high school. Costs also support Operation School Bell- a project where CISD counselors identify needing families in Coppell and members of the Home tour donate clothing, backpacks and school material to over 100 students. The home tour was actually created as a different way to fundraise for these events and get the entire community involved.
“Christmas in Coppell’s home tour raises money for needy school children. It’s a great event for a good cause,” said Paula Rhea.
