As 2010 approaches, people look at technology

With the upcoming year looming over, many of us are wondering what technological advances that the new year will bring us, at the start of a new decade this makes many of us particularly inquisitive.

So what will you can expect your computer to have in it in 2010?

Hexacore processors, USB 3.0, SATA 3.0, DirectX 11 supporting GPUs, improvements and advancements in touch screens, and 3TB HDDs is just a little of what you can expect for the coming year.

If none of that makes sense to you, let me put it in layman’s terms. Your computer is going to be much faster, probably twice as fast as the high end computers are now, if not greater.

Though it will be awhile til we can expect any changes in the video game console department, as the Playstation 2, which came out in 2000, lasted a good six or so years before they stopped making games for it. So console gamers calm down, as your time will come perhaps not in 2010 but soon after.

Faster connection ports are probably going to be the main improvement in 2010 technology as opposed to 2009 technology. For instance, a USB 3.0 drive will be about 10x faster than a current USB 2.0 drive.

As new monitor inputs are being created we find ourselves looking at a crisper, more receptive, digital image than we have currently. The upgrade from VGA to DVI made an impact, it is just unimaginable what the next input will bring forth.

Two terabytes (TB) of data can hold about as much data as anyone can comprehend these days, however with the increasing size of video files in blu-ray and HD formats we find ourselves at a need for even more data. That is why big brother 3TB HDD is being invented and prepared for release in 2010, the knight in shining armor for our ever longing desire for more data.

What on earth does DirectX do? DirectX is software that renders 3d with various tessellations to make it look nicer, for instance, a game that came out in 1998 with DirectX 9c will look much better than the same game running on DirectX 6. The latest installment of DirectX will be DirectX 11 and the first graphics cards to support the feature have already come out this October, however it will be the standard for all graphics cards in 2010 through Q3.

Moore’s law states that every 18 months the transistors on a CPU will half in size, and me, along with many others will welcome Moore’s law with open arms for 2010.

I’m really looking foreward to faster technology. I don’t mean to be complaining–todays technology is great–but I think it’d be great to store dozens of high-def movies on my computer, and for the internet to work really fast. USB 3.0 will be especially great, I think, because then iPod and camera syncs will be quicker, so I can download/upload pics, movies, and movies faster than ever. Thanks for writing this great article!

I beleive society is becomming more greedy when it cmes to developing technologies. We are using too much energy already to develope technologies like the itouch, or the MAC computer. This may sound very environmentalist but it may just be a waste of time. The developing of the new technologies and how to make it faster and all, is just for our entertainment. I think that things should stay where they are.

I agree with Zeb and Erica’s comments above. I think it is really cool how technology is progressing. In just a few decades we have invented microwaves, cell phones, satelites, high tech game consoles, man on the moon, hi-def tv, and much more. Who knows what the next few decades will bring us?
